Mt. Zion II CME Church Front View

Mt. Zion II CME was officially organized in 1950. The first official leader of the church was the Late Rev. George Spears. The church grew under his pastoral leadership in conjunction with church officers and congregants. It blossomed into a pillar of the Bexar Community.

The land on which the church stands was donated by the late Mr. and Mrs. Denton (Evelyn) Spears and the late Mr. Napoleon (Irene) Spears. Over the years, Mt. Zion II CME has been blessed with many influential spiritual leaders who have made notable contributions.

Church Steeple
The church steeple.

The steeple was given in loving memory of Mack D. West on April 20, 1997, by his children: David, James, Wilma, Moses, Mary, Ruthie, Joseph, and Martha.

The steeple was removed after a storm damaged the roof and has since been placed in the church yard.

Memorial sign for the steeple.
